Information in English

Are you an author, writer or a poet in exile? Is it strictly a political concept or can it represent alienation? Perhaps it involves a writer finding himself/herself rootless in a different culture? How do you get your writing out today?
Gothenburg is a segregated city that needs to emphasize and highlight the variety within the community of its citizens regardless to their nationality or socioeconomic background.

Even a swede that may have spent a significant time of his or her life in a different culture — and is back in Sweden — is a candidate for this project. Alienation, identity and culture takes a central role in Lost in Migration.

Our plan, starting the fall of 2010, is to initiate a search to reach published or self-published writers based in the Gothenburg area.

This site will serve as a platform for everyone who contributes with their material to keep up to date with the project. The end result will be in the form of a non-profit anthology that Författarcentrum Väst (Writers’ Center West) will publish, where eight to twelve writers and their texts will be featured.

Are you one of the writers we’re looking for — or do you know of anyone that fits our description — contact us or lead them to this website.

Send us a presentation of yourself and your thoughts on the concept of “exile” (500 words), together with an excerpt of your work in the original language as well as a version in swedish (maximum 6000 characters per version). All genres are welcomed.

Contact us if you need help to translate your writings or translate by your own means. We’re interested in the process of translation; both as a task and as the crucial challenge that plenty of exiled writers must deal with each day in foreign cultures.

We’re very interested and excited to get to know you and your work!

Send your contributions before october 29th 2010 to: lostinmigration.project@gmail.com

Or feel free to send your material via snailmail to:

Best regards,
